Dia de los Muertos

In honor of Dia de los Muertos, we created an ofrenda to place photos of loved ones who have passed. We added candles and cempasuchil (marigolds) to decorate the alter as well as a sweet pan de muerto. We had the opportunity to try pan de muerto and everyone wanted seconds, and thirds! We used play dough to make pretend pan de muerto and decorated paper sugar skulls to hang above the ofrenda. Our favorite Dia de los Muertos books are What pan dulce do you want, little monster?/¿Que pan dulce quieres, monstruito? and Gustavo the Shy Ghost.

Welcoming Autumn

Windy days with a chill in air tell us that Autumn has arrived. The seasonal shelf has transformed to house natural items that can be found during autumn: apples, fall leaves, acorns, pinecones, and Autumn-themed books. We observed an oak tree branch with lots of acorns and acorn caps and used fallen leaves to practice our scissor skills. We made some fresh play dough and used leaf tiles to emboss the play dough and acorns as loose parts.

Music with Aaron

Aaron brought drums for us to use. We were so excited!
