Hello Blackberry Families!

We have had a great and busy week in the Blackberry classroom! I wanted to share some photos as well as give everyone a little recap. We have had some beautiful morning meetings together, doing new ways to greet each and answering a prompted question that strikes conversions. Some questions for our morning meeting have been sharing 3 things about our weekends (each Monday we share this), what superpower do you wish you had, what is your favorite smell, which season is your favorite. The creative answers and responses have been a great way for peers to be creative, share connections with each other, and to respect each other’s likes and dislikes.

This week we introduced 4 new vocabulary words: terrified, pair, nibble, and applause. Students had the chance to learn the definitions to these words, had the to practice writing these, and were able to participate in fill in the blank activities.

For math, we were measuring our bodies using Unifix Cubes! Students worked in groups of 4, aligned Unifix Cubes to match the height of our bodies, counted the cubes, and then recorded data. Students also had the chance to measure the teachers’ and adults’ height also!

Later in the week we were able to use Pattern Blocks to create geometric shapes: triangle, trapezoid, square, rhombus, hexagon, and rectangle. We were able to make creative decisions as to how to create these new shapes. The students really enjoyed it!

We were able to celebrate Ewan’s birthday Tuesday, the 26th, and have a Birthday Circle Friday, the 29th. Here Ewan’s parents shared photos of Ewan throughout his years and a snack for all to enjoy. Students were able to ask questions about Ewan for a good discussion 🙂

Today, Friday the 29th, the 5th graders came to visit us for Choice Time! Students were able to have a buddy, they collaborated on a new handshake, and got to pick a game/activity to play together.

Just a reminder, Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled for October 5th and 6th. Time slots are available for choosing, please ensure you have chosen one. If you need any help – please let us know!

As a reminder these conferences are for us to gain insight to who your child is as a whole and who they are as a whole. Also, if you have any questions – feel free to send them to us beforehand.

Also, in case you missed our Back to School Night event last Thursday, the 21st, here is a link to it.
