Hello Blackberry Families,

We would like to share with you a quick recap of this week. We’ve had a busy and very rainy week. During Science class we have learned about the Atmospheric River storms hitting California. This overlapped with Cultural Studies and having a group discussion on how we can help anyone who is unhoused during these intense storms. We viewed how some animals take care of themselves during storms as well. Other topics from learning about important figures for Black History month, to learning about the Dragon Dance for Lunar New Year have all been viewed this week.

For Math, we are to get into teams for an Addition game, while also learning new terms like congruent and symmetrical for going over this month’s calendar cards.

In Literacy, we wrapped up the 4 vocabulary words for the week of : map, cruel, miniature, fragile. We also introduced the next 4 vocabulary words: error, ancient, identical and pitcher.

We also practiced our phonics with various reading activities and exercises as well as spelling ones as well.

In Art, kids learned about negative and positive space. Check out this amazing link Julianne provided with examples of the activity that was completed last week:

Students also enjoyed Percussions class today!

Thank you so much for attending our Love Brunch. It was everyone’s first time reading and presenting in front of a large audience. Students were so excited to present their Love Letters and Science projects. We appreciate everyone’s presence, bringing something for the brunch and joining us in the Blackberry classroom. We thank you for making it such an amazing event.
