Hi Blackberry Parenting Adults,
Friday, February 14th is going to be a busy day for the Blackberry community. We will begin the morning at an assembly where they will be performing with our music teacher Aaron.
After our performances the 100th day projects will be on display for our parenting adults. We will begin in Blackberry Creek and then visit Sweet Briar’s 100 day projects.
Afterwards we will invite parents back to the class to have a Valentine’s Day brunch where Blackberrians will read their all about love writing. Melissa will get in contact with parenting adults to sign up to bring in brunch foods.
The 100th Day
Each child will come up with a display or collection of 100 items. There’s no need to buy anything – look to nature, dig around in the cupboards or craft closet for things that can be combined in a creative way.
We encourage your kindergartner to get creative! Your child could put together a collection of 100 items on a poster, in a basket, etc. How about a bird with 100 real feathers? 10 shirts with 10 buttons each? 90 pieces of yarn spaghetti with 10 ‘meatballs’? Be creative, work with care, and have fun with this family project!
Here are some additional ideas of different items your child could use:
- stickers
- pebbles
- beads
- buttons
- leaves or petals
- drawings
(Please no foods – the ants will gobble them up!)
We want this to be a fun stress-free family activity. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
The 100 collections are delivered to Blackberry no later than Wednesday, February 12th.
Valentine’s Day Cards
After our Valentine’s Day Brunch and all our parenting adults have gone we will have some time to pass out Valentine’s day cards. Your child can make their own cards or buy them. Everyone should make a card for all members of our community members. We also have Katie, Perry, and Maria who offer our classroom so much support.
Best,
Leslie
