Hello Cedar families, thanks so much for your kind, heartfelt remarks, and generosity!! We appreciate your trust and support as well. We wish you happy holidays and hope you will have a cozy and joyful time with your families during this winter break. We see you in 2023!.
The following are all that we focused on these past two weeks.
Insects
We started with invertebrates, and our focus is on insects. We talked about how insects have three body parts (head, thorax, abdomen), antennae, six legs, and wings (some of them). With these ideas, we went further to examine if spiders are insects, and learned that spiders have two body segments, eight legs, and no antennae or wings. We have many monarch caterpillars in our garden this year and one morning when we counted there were 9 of them and then down to 2 after fall beak! We studied the monarch’s life cycle and its metamorphosis process through the activities in the classroom.
Sound of the Week–“g”, “h”
For the sound “g”, we made grasshoppers with paper plates. Children worked hard on the grasshopper’s legs because they know insects have six legs! For “h”, we made horses with the h letter.
Birthday celebration
We celebrate Gus’s 3rd birthday this month.
Author visiting
The Cedar class was invited by the Live Oak class to listen to Hope Alper, a local author, present her children’s book, The Chanukah Bears of Marin Circle.
Inside Time
We set up Christmas-related activities on the art and practical life shelves. We also prepared our Christmas presents. Sachet bags with Lavender and rosemary, and decorated their pictures with cotton balls and a red hat. Thanks for attending our holiday party with great food and drinks and being patient with our re-do performance. We also popped popcorn and had apple cider today.
Outside Time
Thank You
Thanks to Alana’s family for bringing the flower bouquet for the class!
