Hello Cedar families, The second half of October always ends with the excitement of Halloween fun. It is also the theme we focused on. Please enjoy looking at those busy, colorful, and dynamic moments that we caught as your child is learning through playing.
Introducing the names of Seven Continents in the world
We have started to introduce Geography using the Montessori sandpaper earth globe. This helped kids learn the three key elements of the earth: land, water, and air. After that, we used the colored continent globe to introduce the 7 continents in the world. The words “sphere” and “hemisphere” were introduced when we presented the 2D continent map puzzle. It is sometimes hard for children to associate it with the globe, so we made a ball of play dough, then cut it in half and laid it out flat. After that, we talked about how to operate the puzzle.
Halloween
Halloween fun! Our practical life, art, and other shelves are full of Halloween-related activities to support and celebrate this subject! Children also painted their own Jack-o-Lanterns with different facial expressions and made bats and other decorations for the classroom. We loved seeing children wearing their costumes as well as seeing you joining our parade, and sharing the joy of the season together.
Sound of the Week–“c“
We did lots of cutting and creating and playing hide and seek and guessing games with objects that begin with the sound “c” – cow, clown, caterpillar, chrysalis…Ask your child about the Swallowtail Chrysalis and the second caterpillar we have in our classroom.
