The birthday tradition in Cerrito Creek is fairly simple, and quite lovely. Families come in at 2:45 (or 1:45 on Fridays), and bring a selection of photos (digital is fine, as we have a smart board) and some treats. Your child tells stories (and perhaps you help a little) of early memories, then we appreciate her/him (my favorite part), and sing the birthday song. We often reschedule when the actual birthday doesn’t work out. Half birthdays are encouraged for summer birthdays!
Homework:
Math: 4th graders do brainteaser worksheet. 5th graders do a few pages of Show Me 1/2 (you circled the pages you need to do in class)
Writing: 20 minutes of memoir writing (your choice of topic) in your writers notebook. If you forgot your notebook, just do it on loose notebook paper.
Read! 20 minutes. Record your work in your reading log.
