Hi, and welcome to Cerrito Creek. My name is Mike Sinclaire, and I have been the lead teacher in the class since 2008. I came into teaching through outdoor education; I was a camp counselor in Wisconsin for years, led backpacking and climbing trips across the West, and was a kayaking guide in Point Reyes. I am passionate about nature –the plants, the animals, the various ways of moving out there. I am a meditator, a chef, a gardener, and a musician. Most of all, I am a parent, husband, and teacher. Before I was at the Berkeley School, I taught at Village Community School in New York City, and before that, the San Francisco Friends School. I received my teaching credential and master’s  from the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute and attended Colorado College for my bachelor’s degree, which is in religious studies. Interestingly enough, I met my wife while studying Buddhism in India in my junior year of college. My son Milo is in third grade in Temescal Creek, and my daughter Ruby is in second grade in Laurel. I love the Berkeley School as a place to work and as a place for my own children to learn and grow.
