Just Served Up Nine Pizzas! Ever heard that one before? Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and the dwarf planet, Pluto. Students made their own acronyms today to help themselves remember the planets if they did not know them already. They also graphed the planets’ various distances from the sun and their orbital length. Did you know that it takes Pluto nearly 250 years to orbit the sun once? That means summer lasts about 62.5 years on Pluto!
We’ll head to Chabot tomorrow for our field trip, which will be part docent-led workshop, part museum tour, and part Planetarium film experience. Students should bring snack, lunch, and an optional five dollars, max, to spend at the cafe. We are still short drivers. Please email asap if you can drive. I may be able to coordinate with my family so I can drive, but not likely.
Homework:
Math: 4th graders have two division options; 5th graders have a clock fraction worksheet. Both are due Thursday (b/c Strawberry goes to Chabot Wednesday)
Wordly Wise: 20 minutes
Read, as always, and do a summary on your planner
