The week ahead holds lots of exciting events. Tomorrow afternoon we will have a visit from a real live cowboy, Richard Strong, who is also a poet and world traveler. He will teach us to lasso, read some poetry, and perform some music. Mitali Perkins, local author, will visit on Wednesday to present and talk about her life as a writer. We have been reading her wonderful novel, Bamboo People, in class and learning about Burma’s struggles with military rule. Friday, the last day before break, is the Readathon, one of the best days of the year, so students will bring snuggly blankets, pillows, and a pile of reading material.

Math: 4th graders have division or some word problems; 5th graders should brush up on the skills from the geometry unit by reviewing their math notebooks and spending 20 minutes on Khan targeting the exact skills they need to work on
