Dear Cerrito families,
Thank you to the two chaperones who have sent in $65 for lodging next week. If you are planning on joining us, please send in your lodging fee asap.
Many exciting events are on the horizon. Students are finishing up their webpages in the next week or so on Rad American Women. I will share the link once it’s live. All students are supposed to be finished with their two web pages by next Wednesday. Tonight, they’ll finish their last paragraph on what makes their women rad.
We of course head to Tahoe on Thursday and Friday next week. We sent home a schedule and packing list with students today. Please check it out. If the dog ate it, you can click here to view them online:
When we return, on Tuesday, June 1st, we’ll take our wagons through Berkeley, showing off our bonnets and donning a banner about the importance of teaching about the rad women in history, not just the awesome men. If you want to join, photograph, or otherwise provide support, shoot me an email –we don’t necessarily need chaperones but invite your support. We’ll march down to the Marina, eat some lunch, perhaps pick up some trash on the shoreline, then head back to school.
We are already busy preparing for our play on Wednesday, June 10th, which will likely shape up to be a kind of year-end Cerrito picnic in Strawberry Creek Park. The Oregon Trail families have all written scripts and songs, and they are excited to perform for you. That will be at 6 pm and last until 8 or so.
Lastly is a note from Kate Klaire on the Walkathon:
Friday, June 5 is our fourth annual TBS Walkathon, raising awareness about Strawberry Creek Park and the many service projects students have been developing to support that park. All K-8 students will walk to the ECC with their buddies in different classes, then walk to Ohlone Park for lunch and a field day celebration.
We would love for families to show students your support, cheering along the Ohlone park walking route (map here), anytime between 10-11a. It’s a visible way of showing students their efforts are meaningful–the more the merrier!!!
As a reminder: That day, K-8 students will need to bring a bag lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, and wear good walking shoes.
We need adult volunteers the day of the Walkathon–can you help? Please sign up here

I have great photos from the field trip today, but this version of OS X is glitchy with this blog platform, and so no can do. Ask your child about the bomb robot!
