I. Community Agreements

a. Logical Consequences are how we address breaches of the agreements. They are: loss of privilege, take a break, and you break it you fix it.

II.  Community Meetings: every Thursday at 2:30.

a. Community Meeting Notebook: a place to record community concerns and conflict for discussion in the meeting. Students date entries and sign their names. Before the meeting, teachers ask if the conflict has been resolved before airing it to the group.

b. Self-Governing Contracts: student initiate these (sometimes based on the suggestion of an adult) to help them curb an undesirable behavior. They create their own logical consequence.

III. Zones of Regulation: red, yellow, green, blue zones help students develop awareness of their current emotional state.

a. Tools for moving between the Zones help students regulate and improve their emotional states. We have a cabinet full of concentration tools, and we encourage students to take breaks to physically exhilarate themselves.

IV. Mindfulness – Ahhh. How do you get 20 fourth and fifth graders to sit quietly and focus on their breath? Practice.

V. Kidpower – faculty has participated in two trainings and will be using this great program to help students better navigate the complex social world around them.
