Science/writing: Write a one-page “day in the life” of a whale story in your science notebook. You can be a baleen whale or a toothed whale, your choice.

Reading: 20 minutes of independent reading + a character study worksheet, which should be glued into your reader’s notebook

Buddies welcomed each other back to school.
Students drew to develop their understanding of the evolutionary history of whales.

Tuesday

Students did mini-research projects on whale adaptations today. They are making posters they will display that label the parts of the whale’s body.
Fifth grade mathematicians made posters and held a math “congress” today to communicate their findings on a tough ratio problem.
The Russian American company learned the troika today. What fun!
We modeled the parts of a whale’s body by acting them out.

Math

Writing: 3 AAAWWUBBIS sentences and 3 FANBOYS sentences. That’s gobbledyguck to parents, I realize, but your children are well acquainted
