Last Thursday’s riperian restoration at Muir Beach was fantastic. I lost all my photos when my iPhone got wet this weekend, so apologies there, but suffice it to say that the whole class was deeply engaged, pulling out oxtongue and thistle to make room for native plants. The visible difference that this project has made is pretty profound. We, as a human race, can fix this mess we’ve made, and this generation is building habits that will help turn around the twentieth century’s catastrophic footprint. Thanks Signy, Logan, Doug, and Julia for driving with me to make it happen.
This week, we are deep into our Fort Ross curriculum. Students are signing a contract today that says they agree to follow the rules while they are there, and they will bring home the back side for you to sign tonight as a photo release for the state parks. We will do another shoreline cleanup on Thursday at the Marina to continue our stewardship work. Many of the role group officers are visiting this week to prep for our trip next week.
Please remember to help assemble your child’s costume for Fort Ross. Let me know if you have any questions about this, and I will do my best to help. If their white shirt could use some Russian trim, send it in, we’ll sew it here.
