A note on spring conferences…

We are looking forward to hosting conferences this Thursday and Friday in Cerrito Creek. This is our second round of PT conferences this year, and you should have received a progress report for your child about a month ago. Our hope is that you have had a chance to discuss the reports with your children however you best see fit. We have also met with all the students by this round of conferences to set goals for the remainder of the year and report on their progress thus far–a formal teacher-student conference, in effect. You will see portfolios of some of their best academic work so far at your conference, and we ask you to take them home to examine in greater depth with your child as your guide. We invite you to write your child a letter to formalize your feedback to them–what you’re proud of and what you want to see them focus on–to set goals for the remainder of the year. There will be a sheet in the portfolio to better elaborate this process, but we thought you might like some context for this set of conferences. Feedback is cyclical–it comes from parents, teachers, and the students themselves; it can be formal or informal; it can be written or verbal. Our job is to provide it in a well-rounded way so students feel both seen and supported.
