Welcome back, Cerrito Creek. Though I had to coach my son through a serious case of the Mondays this morning, I found it pretty nice to get back to business as usual today. As much as I love a break, sometimes I need a vacation from vacation (i.e. TGI Monday). One highlight for my family over the break was dogsledding: ask me about it sometime. Awesome.

We have MAP testing this week, which will provide nice mid-year data on student progress. It’s interesting as we look at individual students, and especially for me, as a teacher, to look at the whole class. What do I need to put more time into teaching? Am I surprised with the class’s performance, or does it align with what I most value and thus spend the most time teaching? Get plenty of sleep, and eat a good breakfast to do your best on those.

We are wrapping up two big projects in the next week or so: the African American history research project and a partner reading project. Expect photos and reflection from both as the week progresses.

An announcement from the middle school:

Parents’ Night Out – March 4
Our Middle Schoolers invite you to take a much-deserved Parents’ Night Out on Saturday, March 4! The Middle Schoolers are raising money to subsidize their upcoming trip to We Day, a service learning event, in Los Angeles. Everyone wins on Parents’ Night Out! You get a Saturday night out, your kids get to hang out with the big kids upstairs, and our We Day students get to make their way to LA! Drop off at the UAC between 4:30 and 5:00p and pick up by 8:30p. There will be games, crafts, a family-friendly movie, pizza, and plenty of faculty supervision, of course!  TBS-enrolled students ONLY; $30 for one, $50 for two sibs.   Click here to sign up.

Homework

Reading: Finish your partner reading book. If you already have, read something else of your choice. Work on the Google Classroom assignment called “Partner Reading.” It’s due end of day tomorrow.

Math:

  • 4th grade: division worksheet.
  • 5th grade: Diagonals worksheet.

Study your spelling words on Quizlet. Let’s go for 100% on Friday!

Cursive practice! I expect you to progress to the next letter of the alphabet, at least.

Read, read, read, read, read, read.
