Students will memorize Shel Silverstein’s wonderful poem, Where the Sidewalk Ends, this week. Enjoy.
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.
Homework
Get on Google Clasroom tonight and state your opinion about how to treat a rattlesnake bite. What will become of the youngest male’s leg? Saw it off? Wrap it up? Suck out the venom? Do some research and weigh in! Remember, no pointless text emoji babble.
Math
- 4th grade: pages 78 to 80, Spectrum, due Friday
- 5th grade: finish your packet by Friday (two pages per night keeps you on pace for that). We will work more on the labyrinth problem on Wednesday, so don’t worry about finishing all that at home.
Reading: You know it, you love it, now do it.
Writing (sort of): memorize Where the Sidewalk Ends by Friday.
Spelling: study your words on Quizlet. If you’re in Word Ring, check Google Classroom for an assignment that will help you develop your understanding of your words.
