Please begin looking for Cerrito Creek library books in your homes and return them to school. Our wonderful little library misses her books and wants them back by year’s end, thanks!

Tempus fugit. Here we are, a day away from our year-end performance and graduation/passing-up ceremony. These guys are great performers. You will love what you see tomorrow night. The guiding question for the performance is the following:

How can our performance help increase understanding of how race played a part in the Westward Movement?

It’s a traditional story of pioneers moving to Oregon, but their reasons for moving are more complex than just a hunger for cheap land. They are fed up with the racist United States and want to find, or found, a better place. They get to Oregon, but what they find there is disappointing, to say the least. It’s called Race to Oregon, and we hope you will join us from 6 to 7:30 tomorrow evening. Students will have pizza provided at 5:30 in Cerrito Creek, then will greet you with programs as you find a seat in the Depot. We will perform, graduate/pass up, eat cupcakes, clean up, and go home. All the music is by African Americans, the descendants of slaves, by the way, and is played and sung by the students. It’s going to be awesome!

No homework other than practicing lines and getting good rest. Of course, reading and Khan Academy are a good bet.

And did I mention that Tahoe was profoundly wonderful? So many thanks to the parent volunteers that made it possible, whether you were soothing the homesick, helping out in the kitchen, or mending sore feet–your contribution was both felt and appreciated. See you tomorrow.
