We hope you had a restful, cool Labor Day weekend. Swimming? Grilling?
Cerrito has a full week, exploring the difference between mixtures and solutions in science class, building local knowledge through map exploration, getting into the math routines of our new Bridges math curriculum, and building our reader’s and writer’s workshop. Stay tuned for Lake Anza details as Friday nears, but expect to pack a snack and lunch, swim bag, and comfortable shoes. We will walk to downtown Berkeley to take AC Transit up to the park. It will be an exciting exercise in getting to know our local public transportation that will build on previous years’ luxurious private bus trip up to the park.
Homework
Tuesday
Finish your list of 20 memoir writing territories in your writer’s notebook. A territory is an idea for a story. For example…the time I got sent to the principal’s office, the time I got kicked out of high school, the time I got arrested. Wait a minute, I’ve told you too much! Anyway, they’re just seed ideas for writing. Your parents could be helpful on this one.
Math:
- 4th graders finish the sheet you began in class today
- 5th graders: this is your packet for the week. It’s due by week’s end, so you may do it at your own pace. My suggestion is to do two pages tonight, two pages tomorrow night, and hand it in on Thursday. I tend to give a packet, so you can plan out your own homework week, based on your after school activities. Let me know if you have trouble opening the link.
Read, read, read. Always 20 minutes or more.
