See many of you Thursday for Back to School Night! We will talk and experience curriculum and methodology in the 4/5. If you can’t make it, be sure to check the Back to School Night link in the Categories bar to the right of the blog.

If you haven’t seen the Cerrito calendar yet, which includes field trips, important events, and even when your child signed up for a “Talent Friday,” click on upcoming events above.

Lots of sick children this week, so please get lots of rest, wash hands often, and eat well! May you be healthy and happy.

4th grade families: expect a call in the next few weeks in the afternoon/evening. We want to see how things are going with homework, etc. as your child settles into Cerrito. Love this group, and eager to collaborate with you.

Below, check out the photos of students collaborating on a science lab. They are testing conductors and insulators with a system they designed. Each group member has a specific job. One gets materials, another returns them, one makes sure everyone gets a turn, and another makes sure everyone records data and presents to the whole group. They have a rubric for how groups should work together, which helps them self reflect. Scaffolding is not just for construction workers: students need support to grow the critical skills for thriving in a collaborative environment. They also had a ball.

Homework:

None on Monday and Tuesday in observance of Rosh Hashanah

5th grade math packet (none will be assigned until Wednesday night)

States we will study for Friday quiz: North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Ohio.
