  • May 13-17: Puberty Ed Week. Stay tuned for some question prompts to ask your child after each day of class.
  • Thursday, May 23, 8 am – Friday, May 24, 4 pm: Donner Pass Overnight. Clair-Tappan Lodge. It’s safe to say that it’s going to be a sledding party. There’s a ton of snow, and it’s highly likely that it will be there until mid-July at this point. We would love as many chaperones as we can get for this one. Unlimited chaperones, Sign up here to drive or ride along!
  • Tuesday, June 4th, 6-8pm: Cerrito Year-End Performance. You never know what we will assemble, but it’s usually based on our cultural studies curriculum, there’s always lots of music, and students will shine as they sing, recite, and celebrate. This is also when we hold our graduation. We’d love to see you there. There will be various opportunities to help: sewing, acting lessons, music, whatever calls to you!

I think this is it, but there could be one or even two other events depending on what comes together.

Global Climate March

Kudos to Noa and Judah for mobilizing their entire school to participate in this awesome global event. This generation should be called the Gen Do or Die, because they are serious about this work. A change is gonna come.

The Saga Continues

So much rich curriculum the last few weeks, as the photos suggest.  Primary source documents, non-fiction readings, scenarios, journal writing, argumentation, and reflection have taken the student about 300 miles down the 2,000 mile trail so far. And no one has perished…yet!

Pi Day

Thanks to the chefs flashing the 3.14 on Pi Day. 5th grade students participated in a read aloud and math activity on Sir Cumference and the Sword in the Cone. What a wonderfully nerdy and delicious holiday!

Shadow Trackers…

is not just a cool band name. In science, students are studying the sun, the moon, and the stars. They are learning about how light creates shadows, and how those shadows change throughout the day based on the rotation of the earth. We are modeling with flashlights and blow-up globes. Check out some of the sassy shadows down below. Super fun.
