Dear students and families of Cerrito Creek,

It’s hard to believe that the 2019-2020 school year is just around the corner; your Cerrito Creek teachers, Rachel and Samantha, are so excited to see you all tomorrow! For returning 5th graders, get ready to check out some light adjustments to the space you called home last year. For 4th graders and new 5th graders, we can’t wait for you to come explore the room and to make it your own!

We also want to give a special welcome to our three new Berkeley School students—Carson, Merissa, and Sophie. All three are incoming 5th graders and we are so excited for them to join the TBS family.

Here are our personal bios for those who’d like to read a little about us before the school year officially starts.

Hello Cerrito Creek families! I’m Samantha Snook and I am so excited to be returning for my second year as the Assistant Teacher in Cerrito Creek and to the whole 4th and 5th grade group! Before joining The Berkeley School last year, I taught first grade at The New School of San Francisco, and most recently finished my teaching credential and master’s degree in education at the Bay Area Teach Training Institute. I’m a born and raised San Franciscan, and my students from last year know  I make the trek from the foggy Richmond District of San Francisco to Berkeley every morning with an audio book. Ask me what I’m reading! When I’m not in the classroom, I’m usually doing a DIY home decor or renovation project, trying out new dim sum restaurants, and looking for the next book to add to my very long list of must-reads. I can’t wait to see all of you again  and meet the brand new faces of Cerrito!

Hey Cerrito Creek students and families! My name is Rachel Forbes and I am so excited to be joining The Berkeley School and the 4/5 grade team! Born and raised in San Francisco, I received my credential and master’s in the Science of Education at Sarah Lawrence College, where I also did my undergraduate degree. Since returning back to the Bay Area, I’ve worked in a wide range of schools, and most recently taught a combined 4th-6th grade class at the Brightworks School in San Francisco. I live in the Mission District with my two cats, Guapa and Lobo, who you’ll likely hear a lot about over the course of the year. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, cuddling with my cats (of course), swimming in natural bodies of water, doing yoga, and reading. I’ve challenged myself to read 30 books for the year of 2019 and I can proudly say I’m almost there! I can’t wait to meet you all in August, have a wonderful rest of your summer.

Lastly, we ask that all Cerrito families please fill out this parent questionnaire by September 6. Thank you and see you all soon!

Sincerely,

Rachel and Sam
