The children brought the Halloween mood to Live Oak. They had many conversations about costumes, trick-or-treating, pumpkins, pumpkin patches and more.

Chrissy, our music teacher, is singing and playing songs on her ukulele related to this big celebration.

We involved the students in a big fantasy corner project. A cardboard haunted house! This project included cutting, gluing, painting and decorating. It was great to see the children taking turns, collaborating, and sharing materials.

Now they are having so much fun in our new spooky fantasy corner!

They enjoyed this project so much that we offered two more haunted house activities which are on display in our art gallery. Halloween “drawings” using play dough have been very popular too, as has pumpkin washing.

Caterpillars in Live Oak!

Rebecca, our director, showed caterpillars from her garden to all the classrooms and it has been so fun observing how fast they grow!

Gracias Alex for bringing fennel for our very hungry caterpillars!

Along with the Halloween activities, the children keep exploring new works such as the screwdriver and screws, transferring water using a funnel, transferring water using a bulb syringe, leaf cleaning work, pumpkin washing work, and transferring chilies using tongs. All these activities foster fine motor skills, concentration, and a sense of order and organization.

Practical life

Sensorial

The sensory bin is an opportunity for the children to explore most of their senses–seeing, touching, smelling and listening to the sounds they make when exploring the bin and it’s contents.

Language

Our language activities included the magnetic alphabet, beginning matching sounds, Spanish bingo, moveable alphabet, story time, creating stories, our library and fine motor skills!

Geography

Our students have been playing with our first land/water forms, such as islands, and this week a project with sand and water color paint.

Too many birthdays!

We celebrated three more October birthdays: Adeline, Aliyah, and Quinn turned 4 years old!

Thank you families for providing small and low sugar treats.

Happy birthday to the birthday girls!

Thank you

Griselda, Niki and Katt
