What a fun week!

The Live Oak students and teachers focused on three Winter holidays this week. Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa. We enjoyed listening and reading various story books about the holidays, and loved making many art projects such as menorahs, dreidels, Christmas trees, Kinaras, snowmen, and gingerbread men. All the projects the children made gave our classroom a festive mood.

Their favorite craft was definitely the candle holder they made for their families!

The fantasy corner became a holiday corner where they play with friends. Together they decorate a Christmas tree, and place candles in a menorah and a Kinara.

Sensory Winter bin

The sensory bin offered a variety of textures, colors and small holiday objects the children loved discovering while exploring with their friends. “Look what I found!”, “Its a jewel!”, “A shiny dreidel!”

Cooking project

Latkes with applesauce was our cooking project!  We were very impressed of the great job the children did grating the potatoes! They also added flour, salt, pepper, and their favorite was cracking eggs. They were delicious and everybody loved them!

The cooking team was Elias, Arlo, Leo, and Paige

Author visit

We had the honor to have Hope Alper, the author of “The Chanukkah Bears of the Marin Circle” a story about bears and latkes.

Traveling scholars

As every Thursday, we hosted two students from Cedar classroom, and Quinn and Leo spent part of the morning with our Cedar friends.

Mimi and Kian tried different works in Live Oak!

Holiday Potluck

It was so great seeing you all, and thank you for bringing the food for the potluck. The classroom felt very festive and cheerful with many of the Live Oak families eating together. The children  really enjoyed practicing the borriquito dance, and were very excited to dance for you, so we really appreciate that a lot of you joined us today!

We hope you enjoyed the borriquito dance as much the we and the children did!

We are so grateful for such a wonderful Live Oak community!

Happy Holidays!

Griselda, Niki and Katt.
