Friendly reminders:
Parent/teacher conferences: 03/15/24 and 03/22/24
The sewing work was the highlight these weeks in live Oak. We started this activity in a small group with the older students, and most of the three-year-olds were inspired by it and wanted to try it too. We provided hoops, needles, embroidering thread, and burlap. They engaged very intensely, and did impressive work for young preschoolers! The sewing work is within the practical life area. It fosters focus, concentration, and fine motor skills. You are welcome to admire all the children’s work in our art gallery.
Geometric shapes
We are learning about geometric shapes through games and art projects that the children are enjoying in small groups. They have made little houses, trains, robots, and even their own creations.
A few changes in Live Oak
During the President’s break we made some changes in Live Oak. We moved the library to the corner and offered the children an area for building with blocks. The students enjoy creating different scenarios such as cities, farms, roads, and spaceships. The chalk easel is now more available for drawing, writing and practicing fine and gross motor skills. The rainbow pebbles give the children the opportunity to form or build different kinds of animals and shapes.
We named our fish! We made a list of name suggestions for our 3 new fish, and put them all in a jar. We picked 3 names out of the jar at random. Our fish names are: suggested by Lucca, Swimming Coconut, (orange fish), suggested by Marshall, Geese (big silver fish), and suggested by Adeline, Pencil Bob (small silver fish).
Also, the week after President’s day break was Elias’ last week in Live Oak. Elias and his family moved on, and we wish them all the best.
Geography
We added the peninsula concept in our land and water forms. We are looking forward to bringing our Geography curriculum into the sandbox again.
After the break, we were excited to see the students eager to challenge themselves by exploring more advanced activities. Math and language works such as teen boards, the binomial cube, moveable alphabet, sandpaper letters, sandpaper numbers, metal inset books, writing words, and making books, and of course, the sewing work.
Birthdays:
We celebrated Agata’s and Paige’s birthdays, they both turned four years old. Happy birthday to Agata and Paige!!!
Traveling scholars
We keep having volunteers to visit Cedar classroom on Thursdays. It’s an opportunity for them to try different activities and meet new friends. Our travelers were Quinn and Leo. We hosted Kian and Fiona.
This month we made the children’s favorite cooking project: homemade pancakes along with pajama day. The cooks were Leila, Mila, Lucas and Ava. Everybody had a great time!
We are looking forward to Parent/Teacher conferences.
