Happy Winter, Magnolia Families!
Here are a few reminders as we head into Winter break:
- Campus will be closed from Saturday, December 17th through Tuesday, January, 3rd. We will see you back here on Wednesday, January 4th.
- Please remember to refer to the ECC Daily Attendance and masking Flowchart to guide your decisions around health and safety upon your return to school. It’s wild out there, so take care and stay healthy!
- New Students joining the ECC in January: We are excited to welcome Robin, Ethan and Gus to Magnolia classroom in January! We look forward to getting to know our new friends soon 🙂
Festive Fun
Here in Magnolia we’ve been enjoying music, library books, and projects that celebrate Winter holidays! Emily showed us how to make dough from just two ingredients: applesauce and lots of ground cinnamon. We rolled out the dough and created star shaped ornaments that are perfect for a tree or window. Emily shared that she still has one that she made when she was in preschool! We learned that many Winter holidays and celebrations center around light. We read books about Hanukkah and even played a dreidel game. We read a story called “Winter Candle” about how neighbors come together to share the light and warmth of one candle. We have been preparing for our Winter lantern walk and thought about how the warm glowing light of our lantern is like the light we each bring to the world just by being ourselves.
Chocolate Making
Did you know that Kai’s mom works at a chocolate factory? (Ghirardelli 😉 ) Tanya visited Magnolia classroom to tell us how chocolate is made. She even invited the children to vote for their favorite flavor and shared that one of her jobs is to select new chocolate flavors at Ghirardelli! We melted chocolate and added our favorite toppings to make real chocolates to take home.
Winter Lantern Walk
Thank you for joining us for our inaugural Winter Lantern Walk! Here are some photos from the evening 🙂 We had our own lantern walk in our classroom to practice, so even if you missed the evening event we all had the opportunity celebrate together this week in Magnolia, in many ways!
We wish you a wonderful break and look forward to greeting you in the new year!
