Hello Families,

We’ve made the most of our rainy days here in Magnolia. This month we have a special bonus blog post: all about our big city project! Please enjoy by clicking this link.

Take a peek at some of the fun we’ve been having!

Nowruz

Mitra put together a beautiful presentation on Nowruz- the Persian new year. Watch the video below to learn more about this special holiday!

St. Patrick’s Day Highlights

Thank you Kara (Saoirse’s mom) for joining us to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! We set out a trap for a leprechaun the day before. On Friday morning, our trap was filled with gold coins! There was a note that read: “Top of the morning to you little ones, by the time you read this I will be gone. You tried to catch me but i’m a smart one you see…your trap was so clever and really quite bold. For your wonderful efforts, here is some gold.” Some us us decided we believe in the magic of leprechauns, and some chose to believe that they are just pretend!

Family Visit: Kings, Queens and Cucumber Sandwiches

Hugo’s dad Richard visited us this week to share about the country of England. Richard is from England and had lots of interesting facts to share with us. We learned that a long time ago, Kings and Queens made all the rules in England for people to follow. We imagined what silly rules we might create if we were a king or a queen. As time went on, the English people decided it wasn’t fair for a king or queen to make all of the rules for them. The people decided to make their own rules and even voted for laws and for lawmakers. We made a connection to our classroom agreements: they were written by all of us, for all of us! Richard brought us cucumbers, cream cheese and bread to create delicious tea time sandwiches.

Around Magnolia

Some moments from our last few weeks include:

  • Saying “See you soon!” to Ruby! Ruby and her family are spending a few months in Italy then will return in the summertime. We wish them a wonderful trip!
  • Meeting olly the octopus, nelly the newt, and piggy the pig!
  • Music with Chrissy and learning some new songs and a dance to, “What does a good friend do?”
  • Learning the song “los pollitos dicen” using puppets! This song heavily features the sound “p-p-p”
  • Making art inspired by “Round Trip”- art that can be something different when it’s turned upside down
  • Celebrating James’ 5th birthday!
