Hello Magnolia Families!

February flew by and here we are in March! We’ve been enjoying the sunshine and Spring-ish days lately. As Rebecca shared in our ECC bulletin- the construction next door will complete it’s main framing phase in April! It will be a lot less noisy from there and we are excited for that. Here are a few reminders- we hope you enjoy the blog!

  • Rain is in the forecast next week. Please send your child with or in rain boots on days following rainy days, even if it’s not raining. Puddles are fun!
  • Save the Date: Thursday, April 3rd 9:30a-10a- Spring Sing! More info to come in the ECC Bulletin
  • Got a pile of plastic bags you no longer need? Bring them to Magnolia! We always need bags for wet/soiled clothing.
  • ECC Community playdate – Saturday, March 29th, 10-11am @ the ECC. Come play in our outdoor environment and enjoy singing and dancing with our featured guest, music teacher Aaron!! Please RSVP through the parentsquare post.
  • Spring Break- April 7-11: No School, Camp available with sign-up for ExDay eligible children
  • Save the date for the 3rd Annual TBS Block Party! Saturday, April 26, 5pm-8pm at the UAC. This is an adults-only evening to raise money for The Norman Johnson Fund for the Arts with food, drinks, and an always amazing art installation from teaching artists Helia Pouyanfar and Julianne Hughes along with K-8 students. There will be no childcare provided, so book that sitter now! Teacher Note: This event is SO much fun. We will definitely be there so don’t forget to Save the Date!!!

Rainbows

When we met itl’s friend rusty the rooster, we decided to really revel in the letter r. We knew that rainbow started with “r” so Emily went to the library and found all kinds of books about rainbows! One of our favorite stories was called My Rainbow by Trinity and DeShanna Neal. Trinity is a young girl who felt like her short hair didn’t match how she felt on the inside. Her mom created a beautiful wig for her, weaving rainbow colored hair that made her feel as colorful, beautiful and special as a real rainbow! We learned that no matter who we are, we can adorn ourselves with clothing and accessories that express who we are and how we feel!

Rockin’ Robots

Have you listened to Rockin’ Robot by Mother Goose Club? If you are a parent of a preschooler- it’s highly likely! It’s a popular song on our Magnolia Playlist this year. Check it out if you haven’t already and your Magnolian will probably begin to sing along! We made some pretty rockin’ robots of our own.

What Do You Call Cheese That’s Not Yours?

*with sass*……Nacho Cheese! For our study of the letter “n” we made nachos. We created a base layer of chips, then added shredded cheese on top. Once the cheese got melty, we added (for the adventurous eaters) black beans, salsa, cilantro and radishes. Yum!

Welcome Tómas!

We’re delighted to announce that Tómas will be joining us full time in Magnolia soon! He’s been spending mornings with us here in Magnolia as he transitions from Caterpillar class. If you are returning this year you’ll know that his big brother, Dylan is a Magnolia Alum- who’s now a student at the UAC! Please join us in welcoming him to our classroom community.

Around Magnolia

From music with Aaron, art with Julianne, handwriting practice, dance parties, a new felt mural area, construction with bristle blocks, Family Friday with Henley’s Mimi and Papa….we’ve been busy! Check out the action below, plus a video highlight reel from our Scientific Adventures with Mimi and Papa! Since Henley’s brother Hayes was in Magnolia, they’ve been visiting and bringing incredible interactive experiences for us ever since. Thank you!
