Hello Strawberry Creek Families,
We have officially begun our new science unit, a study of planetary systems! We will start as a class by observing shadows, the Moon, and follow that up with night-sky observations. As a bridge to what we have been studying in class, students will look for the Moon in the night sky when they are at home. To make night-sky observations take a few minutes to enjoy the night sky together on a clear night, and talk about what you see and observe! We’ll spend some time studying our atmosphere and weather and turn our attention to our heating Earth. After developing an awareness of what is meant by climate change, we’ll conduct experiments to design solar water heaters. I’m so excited to delve into different phenomena of our exciting planet!
As discussed in conferences, Strawberry Creek finished their Energy & Electricity unit with a partnered hands-on circuit building project, or as they’ve been calling them, gizmos. After 4 weeks of planning, building, going through the engineering design process, and presenting; they’ve taken great pride in their created gadgets. We hope you had a chance to check out their gizmos, but fret not if you haven’t! You can find all 8 partnerships and their completed/working gizmo in the video below. Feel free to reference the timestamps below for a specific student you’d like to see. Enjoy!
Check in at these times to see these partnerships’ projects…
