Kicking off third grade was a huge success today! We greeted and learned about each other, went on a campus scavenger hunt, played “Getting to Know You” BINGO, and practiced classroom routines and procedures. There was a lot of talking on our part, which we balanced out with some fun activities and choice time. We also welcomed in some visitors who read special books and sang songs with us. Ask your child what their highlight was . . .

This Friday morning, Temescal grown ups are welcome to join us from 8:30-9:00 am. This is a regularly scheduled time when you can come into the classroom to read and/or try out some third grade activities. Please note that on the first Friday of the month this time will be shortened because of the all-school assembly (8:30-8:45). Also, don’t feel pressure to come in each and every Friday, we talk to the class about how parents come in when/if they can and the teachers and other grown ups on campus are also available to read and spend time with the third graders.

If you haven’t already, please help your child decide on a summer memento to bring in this week. It can either be a natural object or a photo of him/her in nature. We are also collecting family photos to display in the classroom.

We have a lot of birthdays coming up . . . and soon! Check out the birthday blog post here, and expect an email from us to schedule your child’s upcoming birthday celebration in the classroom.

We are so excited to be spending our days with your children and partnering with you!
