Temescalians got an inside look into what it is like in the 4/5 classrooms for Step-Up Preview Day, and second graders spent the morning in Temescal Creek. We reminded the third graders that it was a sneak peak into Strawberry Creek and Cerrito Creek, and not their classroom assignments for next year. We heard rave reviews from teachers and students alike!
Third graders had the opportunity to help out their seventh grade buddies with a tree identification project. They chose trees in Strawberry Park to take picture of with iPads, which will be uploaded to the iNaturalist app for identification.
As a follow up to making tule boats, the Temescalians are designing and 3D printing boats by selecting geometric shapes using the Tinkercad program. Susan is working with small groups during choice time and when everyone has their vessel printed out we will test if they are seaworthy.
In math our study of area and perimeter continued, and the Temescalians solved each other’s Quadrilateral Riddles. We also created handy measuring tool so we can always estimate inches and centimeters with the help of our own hands.
At our last K-8 all-school assembly we sang together and learned about the day-trip for WE Day that many middle schoolers participated in.
We completed our Speak Up and Get Along program and learned many SEL tools. We used these new skills to write advice letters about typical third grade challenges and then shared them with each other. We also continue to practice mindfulness activities like passing a glass of water around our circle mindfully with our eyes open and then closed.
Have we mentioned we love reading in Temescal Creek?
