We were so lucky to have perfect beach weather for our time at Alameda Crown Beach last Friday! Thank you to all of the grown ups who joined us for Beach Day. We were able to observe both low and high tide and interacted with some of the creatures that call the mudflat home. It also happened to be National Donut Day, and the Temescalians who were with us at the end of the day enjoyed a couple of donut holes for the road . . .

For the Walkathon, K-8 honored Unsung Heroes as we marched through Berkeley to the ECC and back with banners. The Temescalians chose Julia Hill Butterfly and the Parkland student/survivors/advocates to showcase as we walked with our 7th grade buddies. At the ECC we were treated to lemonade and cheers. As we made our way back to the University campus we stopped at Ohlone Park to spend some time eating lunch and enjoying outdoor games and crafts. Thank you to the volunteers who picked up at the park beforehand, supplied us with snacks, and cheered us on.

The Eighth Grade Repurposed Fashion Show is an annual favorite that is always inspiring in fashionable and ecological ways.

After learning about and building beam bridges, we moved onto arch and suspension bridges. In groups of two and three, Temescalians experimented with materials, and also collected data on how much weight each could hold and then made bar graphs with their findings.

In the classroom we have been wrapping up our research, launching our final Rocket Write, and completing math and reading assessments. Outside of the classroom we have been enjoying our last days together in the third grade.

A couple of weeks ago we walked and BARTed our way to the Exploratorium with a few hearty chaperones. In small groups, students explored the gallery that focused on light and sound waves. We also saw bridges, both real and also models at the Exploratorium to interact with and learn from. Make sure you return to the Exploratorium this summer since there was so much we couldn’t see and there is a new exhibit that just opened titled Inflatable.

Another birthday in Temescal Creek and another opportunity to learn more about a friend and his/her family and life. We are thankful you were born and for the chance to celebrate together!
