Happy Wednesday, Temescalians!
A few announcements:
- Please join us for an all school assembly on Friday 4/17 2:30 – 2:45pm
Araxi and Kate have organized a brief Assembly for the entire community that will take place every other Friday.- Zoom meeting: https://zoom.us/j/7221084824?pwd=VGZUekxUQmYzOS9icGVKYWhmM1NFQT09
- Meeting ID: 722 108 4824
- The password for this meeting was sent by Mitch in an email “TBS Daily Update for Thursday, April 14, 2020”.
- If you have any problems joining the meeting, contact Araxi.
- We wanted to highlight a few changes to our blog post. (Thanks, Carmen and Lavinia!)
On the desktop view, you’ll see links in the “Distance Learning Mode” box to the right of the screen.- “Recorded Lessons“: All of the recorded lessons will be uploaded here. Live morning sessions will also be shared there if someone was absent for that live session.
- “Schedule & Zoom links“: The schedule for Temescal Creek and if you click on the correct day and session, that link will connect you to the appropriate Zoom meeting! (We also need grown-ups to email us the device names/Zoom account names that your Temescalian will be using.)
- “Weekly Assignment Checklist“: Not sure what has been assigned this week? The assignments for the week are all laid out here, including the Core Arts assignments as we receive them. (You may need to scroll down for the correct week!)
A special note for this checklist is that this is a living document. We are always adjusting our plans according to how the class goes so you may need to double check the assignments posted here. Also, we don’t receive Core Arts assignments until the day before the live session for it so we’ll list their assignments here as we receive them.
- 11:00am – 12:00pm *Study Hall on Monday-Thursday
- *We are changing the office hours a little bit to meet the needs of many of the students. Instead of answering parent emails online from 11am – 12pm, we are going to set up a Zoom meeting where Temescalians can drop in as they have questions. This is an optional session. Jackie or I will take note of kids as they join the meeting and answer questions in that order. Kids can choose to stay in the meeting during that time and ask more questions if time allows for it, but should stay muted until it is their turn to ask a question.
We will continue to answer parent emails, but will reply within 24 hours to accommodate for this change. - Join Zoom Meeting for Study Hall on Mondays – Thursdays, from 11:00am – 12:00pm:

- On Friday, during our Morning Session, we’ll be celebrating Ayla’s birthday! Be prepared with appreciations and questions about her now and when she was younger (like her first word/food… favorite food then and now… favorite book then and now… Think about what she would be interested in and see if you can connect with her!)
Core Arts classes will happen in the afternoon and their live lessons will be as follows:
1:00 – 1:30pm Group A (Alice, Amil, Audrey, Ayla, Carter, Elsa, Euna, Kaveh, Keith, Nova, Rome, Zakkai)
1:45 – 2:15pm Group B (Charlie, Harper, James, Logan, Max, Opal, Poppy, Sage, Sebastien, Thalia, Vincent, Zoe)
Please be sure to read Student Expectations of Distance Learning Communications, located in Phase 2 of our Distance Learning Plan. It outlines proper etiquette when responding or sharing online.
Things that you are going to need during our live sessions this week:
– Paper and pencil or a white board and marker (we may ask you to show us your response)
– The math packet we mailed you
9:30 – 10:00am morning session:

We’ll continue posting a riddle/joke here, but you no longer need to email your answer to indicate your attendance since we’ll be seeing you at 9:30am on the Zoom meeting! You can share your answer to the riddle/joke then if you’d like.
Explanation to yesterday’s “Mind Reading Number Trick” can be found here!
If you are working with Katherine, do her assignments first. Also, we’ll put a time for each activity. Put on a timer for the time indicated for that subject. Once that timer dings, move on to the next work!
Remember to have body breaks! GoNoodle has great body breaks that are for a specific amount of time.
We’d love for you to share what you are up to! Let us know of any links/resources that you find interesting, and we’ll add it to our list of things! Also, email us pictures of what you’re up to, and a caption, and we’ll create a gallery of these pictures to post on Friday. (You’ll have to share the pictures by Thursday for them to be included on the Friday gallery!)
We recognize that Distance Learning is new for everyone, and it can take some time getting used to. Please let us know if there is too much or too little work and if something is challenging for you. We want you all to be successful in Distance Learning, and we’re here to help!
Things that are due by Friday. (Please take a picture of all of these assignments and email them all at once to Jackie and me):
- Math: Page 149 “Cats & Kittens”
- Book group questions emailed to Jackie or Lisa
