Hello Families,
This past week, we had many Spirit Week and Halloween festivities!
We kicked off the week wearing school colors, and our crew looked pretty good in TBS gear!
Our “sports fanatics” day had many different sports represented.
We carved pumpkins with our 7th grade Buddies. To prepare for this activity, we sketched the faces out, and as an SEL exercise, we tried to make very clear which Zone of Regulation each face was. We noted that eyebrows, eye shape, and mouth shape helped us figure out each intended Zone of Regulation. Come by our classroom and see if you can identify which Zone of Regulation each pumpkin sketch represents!
We met our 7th grade Buddies for the first time and got our hands dirty, carving up the pumpkins. We connected and worked together to make each pumpkin creation match our sketches. (Thank you to Molly and Melissa for joining us and helping out with pumpkin carving! Who knew that using a hand blender helps break down the fibers of the pumpkin and makes it easier to clean out?)
Snapshots from our Halloween Parade!
We had a few extra activities during Choice Time and Temescalians could decorate vegan cupcakes or rice Krispy treats, season pumpkin seeds for themselves and their buddy, and create foaming cup creatures! (Thank you, Molly and Charla for joining us and bringing the supplies to make these activities happen!)

We saved the pumpkin seeds from pumpkin carving and roasted them! Temescalians had the choice of keeping them salted, or adding garlic salt or cinnamon sugar to them.
It seemed like everyone had a great fun!
We had our first Recycled Runway with Buddies on Monday! Thank you, families, for donating recycled materials. The kiddos had about an hour to design and create a costume and then we all paraded through to show off our creations! It was an inspiring time of bonding and creativity!
Whew! We have had a very full week of connecting and festivities. I hope that you all had a safe and fun Halloween. Now let’s look forward to November!
Warmly,
Lisa
