Hello Families,
Thank you so much to those who were able to join us today at our Celebration of Learning/Holiday Potluck. It was heartwarming to see the Temescalians shine as they shared their Thankfulness Writing with the grownups, and the hear the compliments that the adults had for each Temescalian was truly special as well. This group worked so hard through the writing process from brainstorming, drafting, self/peer editing, and then presenting their final draft. What a wonderful way to end the calendar year!

Here are a few videos about how to make borax snowflakes. If you brought the snowflakes home in the solution, you can reheat it so that the water is boiling, and reuse that solution to grow new borax crystals on new items!

We also got to partake in the 6th grade Cardboard Arcade, inspired by Caine’s Arcade (2012):

Mytko (6th grade science teacher and STEM maker guru) challenged the 6th graders to incorporate circuits and Scratch programming. We got to spend time with the 1st & 2nd graders and experience the 6th graders’ cardboard arcade.

A Temescalian’s grownup joined us to share about Hanukkah. They shared about the history of the holiday, as well as light the menorah with the class. We also got to enjoy latkes and play with dreidel and chocolate gelt.

A few snippets from the class:

We hope that you have a wonderful winter break! Be safe, be well, and we’ll see you on January 3, in the new year!
