Hello Temescal Families,
Fall has been an exciting season full of curiosity, creativity, and connection here in our classroom! From hands-on science and math activities to field trips and celebrations, we’ve packed a lot of learning and fun into these past months.
One highlight of our exploration of trees was learning about dendrochronology—the study of tree rings. We discovered how tree rings can teach us about the climate and a tree’s history, like how drought or plenty of rain can leave clues in its growth. It was fascinating to connect science with nature and imagine the stories trees could tell us!
In math, we dove into area and perimeter using geoboards. The students enjoyed creating shapes, solving challenges, and seeing how math concepts come to life in a hands-on way.
We’ve also continued our tradition of Talent Fridays, where students share their interests and passions with the class. Pictured below is Gabriel sharing about CB radios—his enthusiasm sparked curiosity and lots of great questions! It’s been so special to see everyone celebrate each other’s talents.
This fall brought wonderful opportunities to connect outside the classroom as well. On our field trip to Hacienda Peralta, we partnered with our 8th-grade buddies for a day of learning and bonding. It was heartwarming to watch the older students guide and support their younger peers as we explored Ohlone themed activities together.
Another memorable field trip took us to the Paramount Theatre, where we experienced a beautiful Día de los Muertos presentation. It was a celebration of culture, art, and tradition, and the students were captivated by the vibrant performances!
Of course, we also had time for some festive fun! Our Halloween party was a hit, filled with costumes, activities, and treats. A huge thank you to all the families who helped make this celebration possible and supported our activities this season.
Fall has truly been a season of growth—just like the tree rings we studied, our classroom is full of stories of learning, discovery, and joy. We can’t wait to see what adventures winter brings!
Thank you for being part of our journey! 🍁
